Child Creativity: Stimulating Young Minds with Lego Sets

Many parents maybe considering in the coming months of what toys they will buy for their children this Christmas.

Many children will be screaming for the latest video consoles and games. However, there are many scary stories of children who have gone awry through the shocking influence of some of the games and the addictions that they can hold.

This is encouraging some parents to consider options that will encourage their children's creativity. Something educational, that can give endless entertainment providing many hours of enjoyment for their young ones.

In 1932, in the workshop of a Danish man, such an idea was born from the crafting of wooden samples that were miniature examples of larger products. Ole Kirk Christiansen had given birth to the Lego story. He crafted many wooden toys until the end of the Second World War when he switched to the commercial prospect of plastic.

Plastic moulds were designed to market the hollowed out interlocking bricks that we have today. The flexibility of plastic also allowed the creation of model sets of planes, trains, boats and cars.

Blockbuster films such as the classic Star Wars film, the haunting seafaring Pirates of the Caribbean and the mystifying wizardry of Harry Potter gave way to Lego versions of the famous characters, their space ports, islands and castle-like buildings.

They had created a fantastical chance for children to play out their favourite scenes. And it was not just boys that could enjoy this magic but also doll house sets were created for girls who would also gift their toys with temporary imaginable life.

Four Legoland Parks also inspire the imagination of children. The oldest is located in the original birthplace of its creator - Billund in Denmark. It is the biggest and in its first year had over half a million visitors and also saw the whopping sales of eighteen million lego sets in that year alone.
